New Blog

I've got a new blog now.  You can read what happened here

Merry Late Christmas

I have been slacking a little in the blog world.  Sorry girls.  I know you look forward to my post everyday (ha!).  So here is a summary of my Christmas holiday in a timeline:  Oh and sorry for the lack of pics.

Thursday 12/23:  Off of work (yeah!).  I did some last minute shopping and made these yummy treats to take to my Grandparents house for our  Christmas get-together.

Friday 12/24:  As soon as the hubs got off work we left for Selma.  That afternoon we went to eat Chili at the in-laws best friends house.  All of her grandchildren were there so her house was wild.  The grandkids had a notepad writing down how many gifts each of them got.

Saturday 12/25: Merry Christmas!  I woke up about 7:00 and dashed into the living room at the in-laws like a little kid.  We laid around in our PJs for a while and opened our gifts while we smelled the yummy ham cooking.

Rather than show pics of gifts, here is the just of what I got from the in-laws:
-Shark steam mop, gift cards, PJs, cook book, towels, mixing bowls, baking sheets, fuzzy socks, money, etc.  They always give me way too much.

They couldn't forget about their granddogs.

Opening presents makes me hungry.

We ate a yummy luch which consisted of ham, potato casserole, corn, green beans, rolls, deviled eggs, and pumpkin cake.  We were sent home with a care package full of yummy leftovers as well.

That afternoon, we left around 3 and headed home to do Christmas at our house.  I was a failure and didn't get any pics.

Gifts:  From the hubs:  Harry Potter series on DVD, Southern Plate cookbook, books, Wii games, giftcard.  From the parents:  Giftcard, Bath and Body Works, sweaters, boots.

That night it started snowing!!  We had a white Christmas in Alabama.

I got a lot of great things this year.  It is always such a fun time spending it with family.  I hope you all had a Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas Eve

We are leaving for the in-laws around lunch time and will be back home doing Christmas at my house tomorrow night.  The pumpkin cake has been requested by the hub's dad so I've got to go start that, pack, and get presents together.  I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and that Santa Clause is good to you!

The Many Uses of Vinegar/ My Lunch Screwup

A friend of mine told me that vinegar would clean your carpet.  I tried it and it does work and don't worry the smell will evaporate.  Mix vinegar and water in a bowl and try it.  And then yesterday.....stupid stupid mistake.  I usually eat Easy Mac for lunch.  I only get 30 minutes so I pop my Easy Mac in the microwave for 3-1/2 minutes and then plop down in the recliner and watch TV.  Yesterday I started to smell something a little funny but didn't get out of the recliner.  I was being lazy and reading a magazine.  So I just disregarded it.  The microwave beeped and I go into the kitchen to see smoke everywhere.  Stupid me had forgotten to put water in the Easy Mac.  Now I am a profressional Easy Mac cooker and should not have forgotten this vital ingredient but I did.

So I opened the windows and tried to get the smoke out.  I put out a bowl of vinegar (hence another use of vinegar) to get rid of the smell.  I lit candles and turned the fans on.  Luckily yesterday was a beautiful day so it wasn't cold.  I called the hubs and told him what I did and he just laughed.  I should have gotten a pic of the black ball of Easy Mac with the little blue melted plastic.  I went to said friend's house ater that night(who gave me the vinegar recommendation) and when I got home it was still smelling of smoke.

Today I have the windows open and it's still smoky.  Does anyone have any suggestions about how to get rid of the smoke smell?  And I will never ever forget to put the water in the Easy Mac again.

What I'm Loving Wednesday

{one}

I'm loving that there are 10 days until Christmas!  Let the festivities begin!

{two}

I'm loving that I'm off work tomorrow.  I have to work this weekend so I am off work tomorrow.  I'm meeting a friend for lunch and will finish up some last minute shopping.  I hope to get all the dog hair up tomorrow as well.  The dogs have been staying in our bathroom due to the cold weather and have been shedding like crazy.

{three}

I'm loving snacking on these during lunch:

{four}

I'm loving that the hubs birthday is Sunday and we are going to Outback.  Yummy cheesefries!

Top 2 Tuesday

It's Top 2 Tuesday at Taylor's.  These are my top 2 favorite games:

{one}  Monopoly.  Lee despises this game b/c it takes forever.  That's what makes it fun to me.  He doesn't mind winning though.  We always play when we go visit his parents.

{two} Taboo

I love this game.  It's so much fun.  I get a little carried away with pressing the buzzer though.

Weekend Fun

This weekend we went to visit our friends in Birmingham.  We went to a Christmas party, stayed up late, and ate good Mexican food.  It snowed on the way back and there were apparently snow flurries in Opelika but none when we got back home.  It is still freezing though!  Here is my ornament I won at Dirty Santa:

I couldn't get all of in in one pic but it says "Holly Jolly."

3.  Today I will       work until 5 and then get ready to go to see friends in Trussville, AL.

4.  Tomorrow I will   go to a Chrismtmas party and maybe do a little Christmas shopping.

5.  Maybe      there will be overtime soon and I won't be so stressed.

6.  Someday I want to go to New York for Christmas.

7.I love  listening to Christmas music and drinking hot chocolate.

Christmas Crafts

Here is one of the crafts I have been working on since this weekend.  I finally finished last night after only a small number of hot glue burns.

Supplies:
foam wreath (I got mine from Hobby Lobby)
glue gun with plenty of glue sticks
a book that you don't care about ripping up.

Tear out pages one by one in the book and then roll them up however you would like.  Glue the pages around the wreath and flip over.  Continue to do layer by layer and then glue the pages as fillers if you see any space.  Voila.  Merry Christmas!

Julia thank you for this cute idea!

What I'm Loving Wednesday

It is literally freezing outside at 31 degrees here. No snow though.  It's hump day and time for WILW with Jamie

I'm Loving that it's Wednesday.  That means the week is half way over and that much closer to Friday and pay day!.

I'm Loving that the weather is getting colder, which means comfy sweaters and hot chocolate.

I'm Loving Hobby Lobby and that they supply all of my supplies needed for this wannabe crafty gal.  Pics to come soon.

I'm Loving Christmas shopping.  Amazon has been my best friend this year and they offer free shipping on a lot of purchases.

I'm Loving all of my blog followers.  All 38 of you!  I love reading about your life and thanks for following mine.

Miscellany Monday

{one}
I'm so excited my raise took effect starting yesterday.  That should definitely help with Christmas.

{two}
I had to get glasses last week (for the first time ever) and got to pick them up yesterday.  I must say I didn't realize my eye sight was that bad...or maybe it's just a lot better with the glasses.  You will not get a pic just yet...read meet me on Monday post about the "just got out of bed look."

{three}
Auburn won the SEC championship....woohoo!  Now they are going to the National Championship in Arizona.  The hubs is determined we are going but I on the other hand do not want to skip the mortgage payment.

Ashley and I at Toomer's Corner.  If you don't know anything about Auburn, the tradition is to roll the trees at Toomer's Corner after an Auburn win and this was definetely a HUGE win!  That is toilet paper around my neck!

It's snowing in Auburn!

{four}
My fortune cookie yesterday read "Have fun this weekend and then be productive."  I wasn't too productive this weekend.  I had fun with friends, worked on some crafts, did a little Christmas shopping, and sipped on this yesterday.  Does that count?

Yummy hot chocolate.

Meet Me On Monday

It's freezing here in Alabama.  My fingers are like ice and it's a little hard to type.  I'm glad I don't get paid by the line yet or I would be suffering.  It's time for Meet Me On Monday at Never Growing Old.

1.  What is your favorite kind of cheese?

I love putting this in soups, spaghetti, etc.

2.  What size is your bed?
Queen

3.  What is your most overused phrase?
Oh my gosh and What in the world?

4.  Green or purple grapes?
Green.

I've tried the purple ones but always go back to green.

5.  Shower, morning or night?
I used to take a shower in the mornings but now I take them at night.  I don't have to look presentable working from home so I can have the "just got out of bed" look.

Fill In The Blank Friday

TGIF! I just had a yummy dinner prepared by the hubs. I worked a little overtime tonight so he voluntarily cooked dinner. We had fried fish, mac n cheese, and mash potatoes. Then we watched a little Friends. I love that show. Anywho it's time for Fill In The Blank Friday with Laura.

1.  Holiday spirit makes me happy.  I love Christmas time and everything about the Holidays makes me smile.  Getting Christmas cards, decorating the tree, listening to Christmas music, etc.

2.  The holidays are incomplete without decorating the tree, buying gifts, family time, good food, and watching A Christmas Story.

3.  My favorite thing to do around the holidays is attending Christmas parties, Dirty  Santa, baking, and crafting.

4.  A holiday tradition my family and I have is opening one present on Christmas Eve, baking cookies for Santa, eating a big breakfast on Christmas morning while still in our jammies and opening presents.

5.  Holiday music is always played on my radio during this time.  I can't wait until the day after Thanksgiving when I can listen to it and jam out in the car.

6.  This year I'll be spending the holidays at Lee's parents Christmas Eve and Christmas morning and with my parents Christmas night.

7.  Holiday wish list:  Clothes, books, DVDs, shark steam mop, giftcards, fuzzy socks (I don't have to request these).
